Andy Berks and Fran Perdomo will give a short presentation on key aspects of intellectual property that entrepreneurs, startups, and investors should be aware of. Topics covered will include patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. We will emphasize IP startups need to obtain funding. There will be an approximately 30 min presentation followed by a Q&A session to address participants specific needs.

Andy Berks is a patent attorney licensed in New York, New Jersey, the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the United States Federal Courts and the courts in New York and New Jersey. Andy works to help clients obtain and enforce patent rights. Understanding client needs and business objectives is a critical factor that sets him apart from other patent attorneys. In addition Andy has vast experience counseling clients and evaluating legal issues in matters involving patent portfolio reviews, patent litigation, and patent administrative proceedings. Andrew has a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Colorado and a J.D. from Fordham Law School.

Fran Perdomo is a passionate ally of the creative entrepreneur. Fully versed in domestic and international business models she can navigate the complex twists and turns of any commercial arena, be it in the U.S.A. or overseas. Fran is an expert in all aspects of Corporate, Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law. A savvy entrepreneur herself, she understands the challenges of developing and growing a business, adding a unique perspective to any organization she is helping develop.
Fran graduated Magna Cum Laude from Universidad Iberoamericana (Unibe), where she received a Doctor en Derecho Degree (J.D. Equivalent). She also holds an LL.M from Cornell University Law School, and a Certificat in Droit Compare from Universite De Paris I, Pantheon Sorbonne.
