Finally Getting Outside

While it’s hard to beat the scene inside Joynture, spring fever has officially kicked in and I’m scoping the local places where I’ll want to spend time outside when the weather’s finally nice. This might mean a lunch break outside, some fresh-air work time, or a drink after work.

For lunch: The restaurants on Stone Street couldn’t be more convenient for a quick lunch. (Adrienne’s is my personal favorite for their large, rectangular pizzas.) Or, getting takeout from Hudson Eats and enjoying the views outside Brookfield Place is a perfect destination if you want a longer walk.

For “working”: Ground Central (2 Counties Slip) has great coffee, plenty of pastries, and reliable wi-fi that extends to their shady/sunny benches outside. Or for more food, more shade, and the addition of restrooms, the Le Pain Quotidien across the street from there is a good standby.

When it’s finally happy hour: South Street Seaport is already one of my favorite places in the city and it’s only getting better. I’m a big fan of getting drinks outside at The Hideaway. Or if the weather is iffy, go to Dorian’s Tavern and sit inside near the big, open windows. Bonus: Both have wi-fi if you still have some work to do.
