Winter time is a great time to get outdoors. New York City is surrounded by wonderful mountains to go skiing, snowboarding, sledding and snow tubing BUT those are not your only options! You can also go cross country skiing, snowshoeing or try something you’ve probably only seen done in the movies: dog sledding. Dog sledding is available only a few hours outside of New York City at a number of locations.

We have researched two different companies that offer this lifetime experience for what we consider decent rates:

Husky Works Mushing Company is not too far from Mount Snow and offers two rides each day during the snowy season. We’ll hopefully be visiting these guys very soon and will post again later on how our experience was.

Arctic Paws Dog Sled Tours touts itself as the premier dog sled adventure located at Skytop Lodge in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania.
