Homemade Ice Cream Recipe

July 27, 2016

After a long day in the office, it’s nice to get outside and enjoy the summer. However, with the recent heat wave we’ve had it’s nice to cool off with a cold drink or ice cream! We can’t help you today with making a cocktail but we can share with you an easy recipe to make your very own ice cream in a short time.

What you’ll need:
1 gallon sized resealable plastic bag
1 pint sized resealable plastic bag
Ice cubes (enough to fill 1/2 of the gallon bag)
1/2 cup kosher salt or ice cream salt
1 cup of half & half
2 tablespoons of sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Making your ice cream:

  1. Put the ice in the gallon sized bag. Then sprinkle the salt over the ice cubes.
  2. Put the half & half, sugar and vanilla in the pint sized bag and then seal.
    3. Put the pint size bag in the middle of the ice of the gallon sized bag. Seal the gallon sized bag.
    4. Now shake the bag for 5- 10 minutes until the ice cream starts to harden. If you like a softer consistency, shake for less time. Once you are done, remove the ice cream from the bag of ice and enjoy out of the bag or scoop into a bowl.

It’s that simple! If you like, you can add on any additional toppings you would typically enjoy on your ice cream.
