Sparking Aha Moments

April 26, 2016

This Thursday, April 28th is Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work Day.

This tradition was first celebrated in 1993 in NYC and then became national the following year. Parents would take their daughters to work to help motivate them and instill confidence in them. The day was then set to be celebrated on the fourth Thursday in April so that the girls (and now boys as well) can go back to school on Friday and share their experience with classmates, teachers and others.

The Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work Foundation notes that in 1994, they started to create themes for the celebrations each year.  And on April 25, 2002 – the 10th Anniversary,  “the theme was “Change The Way The World Works.” It was decided that young men could benefit as well, so they were added to the program and the focus were broadened to work, life, family and community.”

So if you have a little one at home, bring him/her into the office for the day. It’s a much different experience than a career day at school.
