3 Steps to a Happier Life

November 13, 2015

I recently completed reading Gretchen Rubin’s The Happiness Project. It’s a great read that will make you giggle but also make you wonder if you’re leading the happiest life for you.  That point is one of the most important. What makes others happy won’t necessarily make you happy and that is OK.

But what else does it take to lead a happier life? I believe the following three steps are quick and easy to implement into even the busiest of schedules:

  1. Start your morning off with something you love to do for 5-10 minutes. This could be listening to music, reading a book, or getting some exercise in. Get a smile on your face right away! Positive energy will breed positive energy.
  2. Mid-day check in on how you’re feeling. Have you lost some of the positive energy that you started off with in the morning? If so, SMILE! This basically helps you fake it until you make it. When you smile, your body sends endorphins  throughout your body and you can actually make yourself happier. You may feel a little awkward doing this the first time but it really works. Give it a try!
  3. Before you go to bed, take a moment to reflect on all the happy things that occurred during the day, no matter how big or small. This time spent appreciating life will keep the good vibrations going.

If you want to find out more steps you can take to happiness, I would recommend picking up Rubin’s book or researching several others like it. Have a great day!
